Steven Rauch was born in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey. The youngest of four, he graduated in the mid-1970s and got a scholarship to play soccer at Lynchburg College in Virginia. He later dropped out of college and began working at United Jersey Bank, then moved on to getting a Dog Grooming Certificate at Stanton School of Dog Grooming in Manhattan, NY, and started his own business with “Have Scissors Will Travel.” He moved his dog grooming business to Carpinteria, California.
